Why Dadès & Todra Gorges
Between Ouarzazate and the Sahara, the kasbah road threads two of Morocco's most spectacular canyons. They lie deep on the southern circuit from a Casablanca arrival — reached by training to Marrakech, crossing the Atlas and following the kasbah road east — and reward the long approach. The Todra Gorge narrows to a 300-metre-high slot barely 10 metres wide, beloved of rock climbers; the Dadès Gorge twists through rose-coloured rock past the surreal 'monkey-finger' formations and the famous hairpin switchbacks. In between lie palm oases, mudbrick kasbahs and the roses of the Valley of Roses around Kelaat M'Gouna.

Yes — they're among the most dramatic landscapes in Morocco and a natural, scenic break on the long desert route. The Todra's sheer walls and the Dadès switchbacks are highlights of any southern road trip.
They sit deep in the south, so from your Casablanca arrival they're part of a 3-day-or-longer Sahara loop rather than a day trip: train to Marrakech, cross the Atlas to Ouarzazate, then follow the kasbah road east. The gorges fall roughly halfway between Marrakech and Merzouga.
