Overview
An evening tracing the myth of the 1942 film — the real Casablanca it imagined, the colonial downtown, and a three-course dinner at Rick's Café with live piano.
The film Casablanca was shot entirely in Hollywood, but the city it conjured is real enough — and in 2004 an American diplomat opened Rick's Café, a faithful recreation of Bogart's gin joint, in a restored mansion against the old medina wall. It has arched doorways, a curving bar, brass lamps and a piano playing 'As Time Goes By' nightly.
We pair an early-evening drive through the period downtown — Place Mohammed V, the Art-Deco boulevards and the old port that stood in for the film's wartime setting — with a reserved three-course dinner at Rick's, table by the piano. A nostalgic, atmospheric way to spend a Casablanca evening.

Frequently asked
Questions about this tour.
Is "Rick's Café & Film Locations" private or a group tour?
100% private. Just you and the people you book with — your own driver, vehicle and pace from start to finish. We never pool travellers.
Can I change the dates or itinerary?
Yes. Every itinerary is a starting point. Add a day, swap a riad, change the start city — we'll re-quote in 24 hours and lock the price in writing before any deposit.
How fit do I need to be?
Easy. Light walking on medina cobblestones, plus optional activities you can opt in or out of on the day.
When should I book?
For high season (Oct–Apr) and any trip involving the Sahara or hot-air balloon, book 8–12 weeks ahead. Last-minute (under 14 days) is usually still possible with a phone call.
Was the film actually shot in Casablanca?
No — the 1942 classic was filmed entirely on Warner Bros. sound stages in California. Rick's Café here is a 2004 recreation built to match the film's set, and the tour shows you the real Casablanca that inspired the story.
